I’m just saying seeing Sansa so heavily promoted, being at the center of all three promos… as someone who supported her through seven seasons from the very start - yes even when she was a brat - and seeing so many people shit on her all the time, is so validating and rewarding right now

I never realized until years later watching the series ending, but the VFD schism was actually about stopping fires vs. starting them. The inherent classism and elitist nature of the members led them to live a life of privilege and Olaf’s father being a fireman shows that he may have climbed up the ladder by being clever and having connections, but he wasn’t born into a lot of wealth unlike Beatrice or the Quadmires, or even Esme. The people Count Olaf ended up befriending were the rejects of society. A man with a disability, people who can’t read that well (may have dyslexia or bad education), etc. that Snicket was shown to judge according to his own views because he was an elitist too, and his part of the schism wanted to keep VFD alive and thriving. It was only a farce of helping others, as most of the members never truly accomplished their goals, sort of how a lot of NGOs or charity’s are only to help us feel good about ourselves through the illusion of poverty porn, when they really don’t help much. It’s why Olaf hated how Lemony kept using pretentious words. Having a large vocabulary isn’t inherently bad, but gatekeeping with it is. So when members realized this, they wanted to start a revolution, or spark a fire so to say. Whoever was in the higher ups of the VFD clearly had money and connections, like Slughorn in Half-blood prince, and allotting vast amounts of obscene wealth often comes at the price of the poorer class, which they may have seeked to guillotine a la French Revolution style, using the deadly fungus. Olaf saw through this, and decided to join the another side that just wanted to see the VFD burn for being hypocrites, because I think the schism broke VFD deeper than two groups. And like the ending of the story, good and bad members ended up picking sides they might not have aligned themselves with before for various reasons, because life is gray. Anyways that’s my bullshit meta, thank you for coming to my TEDtalk
